Origin

The Fairmont Flat Owners Association was formed a few years after the project’s official launch by proactive members united to represent all buyers’ interests. The association was officially registered under the Societies Act of Tamil Nadu on November 7, 2020, with comprehensive rules & regulations to foster a harmonious community upon the project’s handover.

The association is governed by a twelve-member executive committee, including the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, who form the core steering committee. They coordinated with internal and external parties, including government authorities, the builder, and vendors, to ensure the community’s interests were prioritized.

Challenges Faced and Actions Taken

2015-2017

The journey of VGN Fairmont began in November 2015 with the official launch of the project, and the construction made steady progress during 2016 and 2017,
with the structure being raised up to the 8th floor.

2018

In February 2018, the project encountered a major hurdle when the Enforcement Directorate attached the property, halting all construction activities.

2019

The association worked persistently to navigate through the legal complexities, leading to a favorable Appellate Tribunal order in February 2019, which allowed  construction to resume up to the 10th floor.

2020

February 2020 marked a significant milestone with the acquisition of CMDA approval after resolving the financial crisis to the builder moderating a family dispute, enabling construction to proceed up to the 14th floor.

The association’s continuous liaison with authorities ensured smooth processing of necessary approvals.

Feb 2020 – July 2021

However, the Covid-19 pandemic caused unprecedented delays from February 2020 to July 2021, severely impacting construction activities. The association strategized and implemented measures to protect the workforce and community while minimizing delays through frequent site inspections.

2022

In August 2022, the association pushed hard for the application for the Completion Certificate, pushing the project to the final stages of the 14th floor.

March 2023

The perseverance paid off in March 2023 when the Completion Certificate was finally obtained, allowing residents to start planning their move.

Nov 2023

The association’s efforts culminated in November 2023 with the provision of  electricity connections to all flats by TANGEDCO, ensuring that the homes were livable and marking a significant step towards making Fairmont a fully functional residential community.

Throughout these challenges, the committee steered the odds by establishing and maintaining a robust communication channel to discuss issues with the builder, lawyers, buyers, and government
authorities. This collaborative and strategic approach by the association was pivotal in overcoming obstacles and ensuring the project’s success.
